Emma Thompson revealed what she thinks about AI: "there is a connection between the brain and the hand"

Emma Thompson slammed artificial intelligence in an interview with Stephen Colbert. The British actress and screenwriter confessed that AI drives her crazy when it interferes with the creative process. "I don't need you to fix this. Just piss off!" she said, describing her battle with the digital assistant.
Emma Thompson, who won an Oscar for her screenplay for "Sense and Sensibility," recently appeared on Stephen Colbert's "The Late Show." She was questioned about artificial intelligence and its growing influence on cinema. Drawing on her screenwriting experience, she explained why she finds AI particularly irritating.
Emma Thompson recalls working on the script for "Sense and Sensibility""I believe there's a connection between the brain and the hand. First, I write scripts the old-fashioned way, putting words to paper with a pen. That's very important to me. Then I transfer them to Word, and the program assistant keeps asking me if I'd like him to correct what I've written. I end up saying to the monitor, 'I don't need you to correct this. Can you just piss off? Just piss off!' And I get really irritated," explains 66-year-old Emma Thompson.
When the host suggested that Emma Thompson show a computer her Oscar for "Sense and Sensibility," the actress and screenwriter replied that she didn't think machines cared about such things. She recalled writing the screenplay for which she won an Oscar. Even then, for the 1995 film, technology had complicated her creative process.
Screenwriters vs. AI - the war continues" I was finishing writing 'Sense and Sensibility' on the computer, and I came back from the bathroom to discover that the entire script had been changed to hieroglyphics. The script was gone. I panicked! I went to Stephen Fry's house, who was good with computers. After eight hours, he got the text back, but it was one long sentence. I had to rewrite it. I felt like the computer had done it on purpose!" the actress said, revealing moments earlier that she had been waiting for the result of Fry's work while sipping tea with Hugh Laurie.
Emma Thompson is the second screenwriter to speak out against artificial intelligence in recent days. Guillermo del Toro, whose "Frankenstein" will soon be available on Netflix, also recently expressed his strong opposition.
"I'm against AI. When someone recently asked me what I thought about the use of artificial intelligence, I replied that I'd sooner die," he told NPR.
